Red string and jade bracelet worn on a woman's wrist
Our Story

It Started With a Red String

When I was little, my grandmother tied a red string around my wrist every Lunar New Year. She would make a quiet knot, give my hand a small pat, and tell me it would keep me safe. I was too young to understand it, but I never cut it off. When one wore out, there was always a new one.

Things like that were just normal at home. There was a small altar my grandmother tended each morning, a bag of stones my mother kept by the window, and mirrors and plants placed in spots that simply felt right. I didn’t know any of it had names like Feng Shui until I was older. It was just how we lived.

When I left home and settled in a new country, I couldn’t find any of it. The pieces in the shops were either made in factories with no story, or priced in a way that didn’t feel honest. I started bringing things back from trips home for friends, a necklace for one, a small Buddha for another. Before long, friends were writing to ask if I could find one for their friends too.

That is really how FortunateMall began, a way to share the things I grew up with, and what they mean, with anyone looking for them. There was no bigger plan than that.

What We Stand For

The Way We Do Things

Chosen by Hand

I don’t order from catalogs. Every stone and every piece is picked in person, and each order is checked once more before it goes out.

Fair to the People Who Make It

We work with small workshops and families we have met in person, and we pay them fairly so these crafts can continue.

Priced Honestly

No inflated markups and no fake discounts. You pay a fair price for a genuine piece, nothing more.

Here if You Need Us

Questions, sizing, or returns, write to us and a real person will reply. If something isn’t right, we’ll make it right.

Our Craft

Where Each Piece Comes From

Most of what we sell can’t be ordered in bulk. We travel to Nepal, Tibet, and Thailand and spend time in the places where these pieces are actually made, monastery workshops, family rooms, and small stone yards rather than factories.

Stones are chosen for their color and feel. Red strings are knotted one by one, amulets are blessed the way they always have been, and metal parts are made to be gentle on skin, with no lead or nickel.

When a piece comes back to us, it goes through one more check for knots, finish, and strength. Only the ones we’d happily wear ourselves are sent to you.

Giving Back

10% of Our Profits, for Children in the Mountains

My grandmother often said that a blessing shared is a blessing doubled. It’s a small belief, but it’s one we wanted to build into the shop.

We set aside 10% of our profits for children in remote mountain villages, where families have limited access to books and school supplies. The money goes toward reading books, stationery, and warm meals during the school term.

We’ll share photos and updates here as the program grows.
